How to win a credit card dispute?

January 17, 2011 · Posted in dispute credit

Im going to be disputing a charge on my credit card for $850 because someone never sent me the domain name I bought from them online. This is a large amount and I need to make sure I win this case so how can I make sure I get the money back? I have heard that if you say you did not authorize the charge you get the money back no matter what. Should I just do this?

no, you should not claim fraud on it. They will look into it, notice you did do business with that merchant and place it back on ur acct. call your bank and let them know you want to dispute a charge, let them know you did business with the merchant but never received the goods. The bank will issue you credit and call the bank to see what is going on. They will try to get the money back from the merchant or just take the loss. If you claim fraud it will prolong ur chance of getting this settled.

But you did authorize the charge. If it ever gets to arbitration or court, they can use your lie against you.

Tell your credit card company that you paid for a service and a product and you did not receive either the service or the product.

Document – write it down – every attempt you have made to collect your service and product, your conversations with the credit card company and anything else that has anything to do with this purchase.

All you have to do is show proof of payment and failure of delivery with most CCs.

You need to send any documentation you have to the credit card company – in the form of a paper letter, not an email, text or other form of communication – and give them time to sort it out and credit your account. If you have no documentation, then it will be a " my word against theirs" type of battle

Don’t lie. If you get caught, you will automatically lose. Instead tell the truth. You made a purchase and the person didn’t provide the item. Be sure to include that you have been unable to get a response to your inquiries.

As long as you are still within the 60 day period to dispute the charge with your credit card, they will investigate and you have a good chance of them finding in your favor.

No, because that would be lying, so I wonder if you did indeed get the domain name and had either buyers remorse because it cost so much or you just didn’t want it anymore and now need a creative way to get out of the $850.

Sorry, but I think you might be the one who is scamming here, not the person selling the domain name.

You would have to prove that you didn’t receive the domain. That means if they can produce a paper trail that you ordered it and they delivered and you registered it (very easy to find out) you will be stuck paying.
